Street Arts / Circus

Street Arts workshops will encourage students to create work based on social observation. Visits to cities like Verona in Italy or Girona in Spain provide vibrant and exciting environments to stimulate ideas for new forms of performance. Using Invisible Theatre and/or Street theatre techniques, students can also perform ideas on camera. Students have an unforgettable performance experience captured for posterity and they return with new inspiration for imaginative staging and performance ideas.
Circus workshops are extremely popular, catering to a wide variety of abilities and bonding the group together. Circus Skills are also a fun and accessible way to encourage fitness and movement skills with young people, improving balance and co-ordination skills. Not only challenging and fun, they can improve students’ concentration, retention, conceptual understanding, self confidence and self-awareness, which can be applied to more conventional learning situations in core subjects. Workshops we can offer include: Street Theatre; Invisible Theatre & Film; General Circus Skills - including Poi, Juggling, Diabolo & Devil Sticks; Acrobalance; Lycra Sculptures; basic Stilt-walking; Clowning and Staffing. On specific request we can theme a Street Arts week taking inspiration from the surroundings, such as from artists like Dalí in Spain, Mime Artists in Paris or from the Carnival tradition of Venice.
