The Festival

Described as a ‘festival of festivals’ with hundreds of events occurring throughout the city; music, street art, acrobatics, fire and traditional performance. The best thing is – most activities are free of charge.
An STS Pavilion Tours representative will be on-hand to direct you to the shows and activities that best suit your group requirements.

A highlight of the week is the ‘castellers’ (human tower-building) which takes place in Placa Jaume. Other traditional events include the Giant’s parade and displays of the Catalan dance Sardanas. The local cultural authority sponsors live music stages throughout the city and many museums are free of charge during the festival. La Mercè culminates in a spectacular ‘Pyromusical’ – a display of fireworks, music and lights attended by thousands.
