Seattle : USA
This beautiful region is largely uncharted by British tourism yet is an ideal region for geographical exploration. Our programme takes you on a tour of Seattle, Washington’s largest city and on to the active volcano, Mt. Rainier, whose glaciers are the largest remnant of the Ice Age to be found on one mountain.
The tour continues on to Olympic National Park and the Quinault Rainforest, containing over 500 tons of living biomass per square acre, which is more than any other ecosystem on earth. You will also visit Sea Stacks on Ruby Beach and spend some time with the Makah Indians, learning the relationship and importance of environment to these native peoples. Finally you hike to Marymere Falls where the cascading waters plunge 30 metres, and stop off at Hurricane Ridge at an altitude of 5200 feet, offering the perfect vantage point to observe alpine meadows and the glaciers making up the Olympic Mountain range.
