Rugby in South Africa

Filled with possibilities for adventure with inspiring and fascinating, scenic vistas throughout the country, South Africa offers the ideal opportunity for students to stimulate their passion for rugby outside the UK and beyond the school grounds.

South Africa has natural diversity with an array of beautiful mountains, forests, deserts and coasts and a host of interesting wildlife. The accommodations, all offering half board, are situated within a multiple range of cities, towns and games park lodges across the country.

Free-time is taken care of, with superb shopping and entertainment opportunities. A wide choice of sports and cultural excursions is in offer in every location.

With its subtropical climate, South Africa is a year-round destination; we suggest visiting in May, Easter and October half terms when the weather is at its best, however, even with its milder weather February half terms are also recommended.

Wider curriculum links: Offering superb sports facilities alongside welcoming South African culture, multi-ethnic culture, rich history and inspiring landscapes, South Africa communicates a natural link between sports and other curriculum areas, including Languages, History, Art, Geography and Geology.

Pavilion's Rugby Tours

Pavilion's well-established agents can expertly match players' ages and abilities, ensuring that all students benefit from valuable training sessions.

Our official referees demonstrate enviable skill and professionalism and combined with your school's teachers training the students, the fixtures and 90 minute training sessions give ample opportunity for positive learning outcomes through challenging players' decision making skills and enhancing their performance.

One of the most popular sports in the country and home of national team, Springboks, South Africa provides a fantastic arena where players can develop their game and share their passion for rugby with likeminded locals. Non-playing teams are encouraged to actively support players during matches.

Students will enrich their learning and experiences further by playing three fixtures with local teams in South Africa, allowing them to build confidence in their cultural understanding, communication skills and sporting abilities.

During their stay, teams can expect:

  • 3 x fixtures against local South African sides
  • 1 x 90 minute training sessions
