Netball in Barbados
Perfect, upbeat and magical, filled with white sand beaches to relax on at the end of the day, Barbados offers the ideal opportunity for students to ignite their passion for sports outside the UK and beyond the school grounds.
Netball fans can enjoy a trip to the Barbados International indoor facility, St, Garfield Sobers sports complex which also houses the Aquatic Centre, for any marine enthusiasts in your group.
Staff and students can relax with a choice of all boarding types at this safe and welcoming resort based in southern Barbados where amenities and several beaches are conveniently located within walking distance of the hotel. If you're looking for a fun night out, the nearby village of Oistens has a delicious Fish fry on the beach every Friday followed by lively festivities.
Free-time is taken care of with a wide choice of water sports and cultural excursions are also on offer. Snorkelling, wakeboarding and surfing are all available as well as the boat yard package. Whilst touring the island, beautiful mountain vistas, sea views and colourful a plethora of wildlife including green monkeys, mongoose, whistling frogs and toads and eight species of bats can be seen.
With its tropical climate, Barbados is a year-round destination, however, we recommend visiting between January and August to miss the rainy and hurricane seasons when teams can play outside all day and there is a larger choice of teams to practice with.
Wider curriculum links: Offering superb sports facilities alongside welcoming Bajan culture and in this scenic, coastal location, Barbados communicates a natural link between sports and other curriculum areas, including History, Art and Geography. One educational excursion we recommend is the natural beauty of Harrison's Cave, a crystallized limestone cavern with much to see.
Pavilion's Netball Tours
Pavilion's well-established agents can expertly match players' ages and abilities, ensuring that all students benefit from valuable training sessions.
An exceptionally popular sport on the island, Bajans get to enjoy playing netball all year round with their tropical climate with a huge selection of sandy white beaches to play on; or on one of the many netball hard courts sited throughout the 11 parishes of the island.
Our official umpires demonstrate enviable skill and professionalism, offering three fixtures with local Bajan players, which aim to generate positive learning outcomes through challenging players' decision making skills and enhancing their performance.
Students can expect the likelihood of a local crowd, and non-competing school teams are always encouraged to actively support, adding to the audience for playing teams.
Students will enrich their learning and experiences further by playing three fixtures against local Bajan sides, allowing them to build confidence in their cultural understanding, communication skills and sporting abilities.
During their stay, teams can expect:
- 2 x fixtures against local Barbadian sides
- Games managed by official umpires
