Football in Munich
An eclectic mix of historical and contemporary architecture and landmarks reflecting its rich, influential history, Munich offers the perfect backdrop for school groups as they ignite their passion for football outside the UK and beyond the school grounds.
The capital of Bavaria, Munich occupies a metropolitan location situated on both sides of the Isar River and within 30 minutes of all training pitches. With its continental climate, summer runs from around April to September. We recommend visiting the city in May and Easter Half Terms or anytime during the summer as the weather is warmer. For a quieter stay with milder weather, both October and February Half Terms are also recommended when the famous Oktoberfest is on.
Staff and students can relax with full board in this central accommodation on the lake side, where all of Munich's attractions are either a walk away or nearby, using the highly efficient public transport available.
Free-time is taken care of with a diverse selection of shopping areas including Neuhauserstrasse and Kaufingerstrasse with many big department stores and international chains. Near the hotel, a wide choice of sports, top stadiums and cultural excursions are also on offer, including one of the largest ski halls in Europe.
Wider curriculum links: Offering superb sports facilities alongside the welcoming German culture, history and architecture spanning several eras, Munich communicates a natural link between football and other curriculum areas, including History, Art and Geography.
Pavilion's Football Tours
Pavilion's well-established agents can expertly match players' ages and abilities, ensuring that all students benefit from valuable training sessions.
Known as fussball, the most popular sport in the country is football, so you can be confident that they share your passion. Football fans will appreciate a visit to the magnificent Allianz Arena where FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich play.
Our official referees and coaches demonstrate enviable skill and professionalism, offering 90 minute training sessions which aim to generate positive learning outcomes through challenging players' decision making skills and enhancing their performance.
Teachers can choose to add as many training sessions as they desire, and are more than welcome to coach students themselves, if they prefer. Non-competing school teams are always encouraged to actively support the playing team giving a high possibility for a crowd.
Students will enrich their learning and experiences further by playing against local German teams, allowing them to build confidence in their cultural understanding, communication skills and sporting abilities.
During their stay, teams can expect:
- 2 x fixtures against local German sides
- 90 minute training sessions
- Games managed by official referees
